Foam filters don’t block dirt; they grab it.  Traditional paper filters rely on "surface filtration," using microscopic passages to physically block particles. As those small passages plug up, airflow drops catastrophically.The Perrin Open-Cell Foam Filter utilizes depth filtration. The reticulated polyurethane foam creates a complex, winding three-dimensional maze. When treated with specialized filter oil, the entire matrix becomes sticky. Air flows dynamically around the foam fibers, while heavier dirt particles slam into the sticky walls and become suspended in the depth of the foam. This allows the filter to retain exceptional flow rates even as it gets dirty, ensuring your engine breathes easy throughout your entire service interval.
