In our experience, rattling noises from the steering assembly are likely to occur in the Toyota 86, Scion FR-S, and Subaru BRZ. Especially vehicles that are over five years old. Bushings are typically at fault, although some have had to replace the entire Electronic Power Steering (EPS) assembly. It's a good idea to try to replace the bushings first before you replace other costlier parts.
